In March 2019 we wanted to escape the winter so we headed east.
After a short 15 hours of air time, we arrived in Singapore to begin our adventures.
The plan included a two night stay in Singapore, a cruise along the Vietnam coast and a finish in Hong Kong.

Singapore is a fantastic city.
It has a population of 5.6 million people for a density of 7,800 per square KM or 20,000 people per square mile.
It's GDP per capita is about USD $98,000 - third in the world.

In the back ground you'll see what looks like a ship on top of buildings.
This is Marina Bay - the local Casino and hotel.
Interesting note that Singapore has the second highest Casino spend in the world, behind Macao and ahead of Las Vegas.   Singapore has only two Casinos.

Here is the famous Raffles Hotel.
Raffles Hotel is a colonial-style luxury hotel in Singapore.
It was established by Armenian hoteliers, the Sarkies Brothers, in 1887.
The hotel was named after British statesman Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore.
Bad luck for us...the hotel was under renovation at the time so we could not get in for a tour.
